Broughton in Furness Film Club

Programme 2008

Friday 20th June 7.30
'Much Ado About Nothing'

Directed by Kenneth Branagh
There's much to commend in Branagh's international version of Sheakespeare's troubling commedy. Branagh and Thompson, as Beatrice and Benedick, seem on the whole happier with the romance the comedy~ but do a fair job with some of the best verbal jousting in the language.

Friday 25th July 7.30
'Big Fish'

Starring Ewan Mcgregor, Albert Finney & Jessica Lange
The story of a man desperate to reconcile with a dying father. This wonderous and touching drama told in flashbacks, cuts between the colourful adventures of the young Edward and the more somber last months of his life as he reminisces with his wife. What the man discovers is that outlandish as his father's stories are, they retain a grain of truth, and from that seed acceptance grows.
